My web design service is based on two decades' experience building all sorts of sites for all sorts of people.Book a Free Consultation
A well planned and original website establishes a unique online niche for your business and brand, and lends it substance and authority. For this reason, I prefer not to use pre-built, over-subscribed templates from services like SquareSpace, Wix and Wordpress. I understand that my clients don't want their website to look like everyone else's! This means the website I create for you will be unique and tailored to meet your specific expectations and requirements with no compromises.
It doesn't have to cost a fortune to set up an effective website, though if you engage an agency to build your site you'll probably end up paying one. Working as an independent freelancer, I am able to offer my clients costing rates that significantly undercut those of larger agencies with multiple business overheads to pay for, without ever cutting corners on quality.
All the websites I design and build are fully responsive, which simply means they automatically detect and adapt to whichever size of screen they are being viewed on. I use the tried and trusted Bootstrap framework, which means the sites I build are guaranteed to be robust and reliable, and display perfectly on all devices, all screen sizes and in all browsers.
For simpler projects and smaller businesses, the fixed price packages I offer can provide the best value for money as they are designed to include everything a new or small business needs to establish an online presence, including domain name, web hosting, social media setup and printed business stationery. For more complex projects with specific aims and requirements, it's normally best for me to put together a bespoke pricing that is tailored to the unique circumstances of your business and online presence.
This is the tried and trusted process I follow to help my clients always feel engaged and involved in the process of planning and creating their website.
I’ll ask you a few questions about your business, your competitors and what you want to achieve with your website, and then propose a project costing and schedule Costs will vary according to your requirements including the size, functionality and complexity of the web solution you require.
I put together some Photoshop design visuals for your site for you to view, which will include possible new logo versions (if required), some page mock-ups and a general UI style guide. Once I’ve created a design that you love, I can either pass the static visuals or HTML/CSS files over to you if you already have a web developer who will be putting the site together (we'll have discussed this at Step 1 of the project), or I begin building the website myself based on the approved design visuals. If you’ve asked me to optimise your existing site content or generate new site content, I’ll do that at this stage as well.
I convert the static designs you’ve approved into real web pages incorporating the features and functionality your site is to include, plus (if relevant), whichever content management system (CMS) you have selected to allow you to keep your site content updated. The site code will be semantically optimised to make your site as search engine friendly as possible.
Once you've previewed your new site and are happy with everything, I'll make the site live and submit it to Google to be indexed for search.
All websites I build are optimised for Google, but if your goal is to get to the top of Google and stay there, your site will still need an ongoing campaign of optimisation to keep it in front of its competitors. If you have the time and budget available to commit to this, then I’ll work with you to create an optimisation plan which gets results but won’t break your budget. I also offer several aftercare support packages to help make sure your new website always stays in tiptop shape.
The final results have always exceeded my expectations and nothing is too much trouble for Steve as your site begins to build. Steve is definitely my first choice for a professionally designed and bespoke website.Mike Daines, Middle Level Watermen's Club
